KeNHA Roadshow : Tulinde Barabara Zetu : Countrywide Activation
The Challenge

Assessing in total the implementation of the two five-year long Strategic Plans, it is noted that this was the first organized attempt to deal with the problem of road accidents in Kenya. The first step for the improvement of road safety was taken and the basis for facing the problem efficiently was set. However, some important barriers existed. These barriers mainly concerned the coordination and the monitoring of the implementation of the Strategic Plans.

Despite having a common agenda on reduction of road carnage there was no common engagement platform for stakeholders to engage collaboratively and plan on collaboration and execution modalities of the different campaigns merging them into one common message and actionable plans. The mechanism that would support the work of the Inter-stakeholders never worked properly and the necessary resources were never allocated to the related road safety actions. Therefore, any efforts made by all public and private stakeholders were limited.
